Become a PET Institute Therapy Team

Volunteering as part of a therapy team is a wonderful, deeply rewarding, yet highly responsible journey.

The process of obtaining a therapy team licence begins with an assessment of the dog, which must be at least 12 months old at the time of testing. This is followed by general training, which includes both theoretical and practical components. After successfully completing the general training, the trainee therapy team continues with practical training, during which they must complete at least 25 hours of practical work in different institutions.

After completing the practical training, the trainee takes a theoretical and practical examination.

Once all stages of training, internship and assessment have been successfully completed, the trainee therapy team and their dog receive the title of therapy team and a PET Institute licence to provide animal-assisted interventions. The licence is valid for two years.

Working Members of the Institute

The PET Institute is supported by people with a wide range of knowledge, experience and responsibilities. In addition to our therapy teams, our organisation includes employees, professional associates and volunteers who take care of administration, programme development, member support and many other tasks that make our work possible.

Membership is open to anyone who completes the Membership Application Form, signs the Loyalty Clause, pays the annual membership fee determined by a decision of the Institute’s Board for the current year, and submits a Criminal Record Certificate.

Please send the required documentation to the PET Institute’s registered office. Applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee. More information about the rights and responsibilities of working members can be found in the Institute’s Statutes. Once a candidate has been accepted into the Institute, they begin the training process required to obtain a PET Institute therapy team licence.

Institute INFO Centre

Membership of the INFO Centre is open to individuals, governmental or non-governmental organisations, associations and other institutions that complete the Membership Application Form, send it to the Institute’s registered office and pay the annual membership fee determined by a decision of the Institute’s Board for the current year. Once the Membership Application Form has been received, members are added to the Institute’s mailing list.

More information about the rights and responsibilities of INFO Centre members can be found in the Institute’s Statutes.

Institute Development Centre

Membership of the Development Centre is open to organisations, associations and institutions that submit a completed Membership Application Form, their Articles of Association, founding act or founding agreement, as well as a registration certificate, statistical office notification, extract from the court register or decision issued by the administrative unit. They must also provide their tax identification number and a programme report covering the previous two years of operation.

Please send the required documentation to the Institute’s registered office. Applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee. Members of the Development Centre pay an annual membership fee which, upon the proposal of the Institute’s Board, is approved by the Institute’s Forum. More information about the rights and responsibilities of Development Centre members can be found in the Institute’s Statutes.
